Steve Kornicki has been composing concert music since 1987, and his compositions for orchestra and chamber ensembles have been performed and recorded throughout the U.S. and in Europe. Steve studied composition & music theory with Jeffrey Mumford and guitar performance with William Peters at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, PA.

"Cycles of Fifths in Lines of Self-similarity" version for 11 percussionists premiered by the Ithaca College Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Gordon Stout, Feb., 23. 2013.

"Vertical Color Forms #1 (Cosmic Vistas)" received its world premiere along with "Morning Star Rising" performed by the Rhodes College Orchestra conducted by Joseph Montelione at Rhodes College, in Memphis, TN, October 2009.

Horizontal Color Forms #22 received its world premiere by the Chicago Miniaturist Ensemble at Ossia Fine Arts Space in Chicago in September 2008.

Steve has also worked with the West End String Quartet from Boston and Hartford. The quartet performed and recorded Horizontal Color Forms #15 in 2007 in Pittsburgh.

He works closely with Dave Gerhart, California State University Long Beach Professor and Percussionist, and musicians at CSU Long Beach. A series of percussion pieces composed by Steve, some of which involve the integration of electronics with live musicians, have been premiered and performed there since 2000.

In 2005 and 2006 Steve composed several pieces for the New York Miniaturist Ensemble which were premiered and perfomed by the ensemble in various venues throughout New York City. In February 2006 the New York Miniaturist Ensemble performed Horizontal Color Forms #12 "72 Tones" at a historic concert that took place at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New York City, along with the premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen's "First Natural Durations".
